After a couple of months of speculation, the fine men and women up in Beaverton have officially released Stanford’s Nike Pro Combat uniforms, which the Card will wear to face Notre Dame in the regular season finale on November 26. Although we whiffed on the jersey color in the speculative jersey and helmet Pro Combat mock-ups on this site in July, I think ours was pretty darn close to Nike’s. The numbers are a bit confusing. Stanford is located in the west and the campus used to be a horse farm, but the Wild West typeface would look better on Nevada or the Arizona Diamondbacks, not the school that helped give birth to Silicon Valley. Hopefully the nameplate on the back of the jersey, which currently reads “Stanford”, will have player names. That isn’t always the case with the Pro Combat line.
In other news, our helmet concept was much cooler than the real thing. Too bad.
