The 3rd Round of The Great Western Uniform Bracket 2011 drew the highest number of average votes per match-up of any round so far. And it’s clear exactly why that happened: Colorado and Washington fans once again got behind their teams like no other schools have over the course of the tournament. The Huskies and the Buffs again blew out their competition, securing cushy wins over Cal and Arizona State, respectively.
In publishing the results of the first two rounds, we gladly released the percentages of the total vote that each school received. Today we won’t–merely out of respect for the losing schools, who were dominated by the voting forces of CU and UW.
Gold helmets have been a key to victory so far, as UCLA is the only gilded lid squad to be eliminated thus far. But the helmet color similarity between Seattle and Boulder is just a coincidence. The real difference has been remarkable voting efforts by both schools, which constitute the top 2 overall vote recipients in the first three rounds.
The bracket is nearly complete. Only one pairing–the Washington-Colorado final that will begin on Monday–remains.
