Stanford Athletics’ promotional video for the April 9th Football Spring Game is really long and, shall we say, uncomfortably awkward. (As opposed to that Juno breed of endearing awkwardness.) But insofar as it is a mechanism by which to promote the game and Stanford football among the Cardinal Faithful and make inroads into San Francisco (it’s no coincidence that the game and the video take place in The City) it should be a fairly successful new media marketing piece. After less than a day on YouTube, it’s already garnered more views than several of the highlight reels from actual Stanford football games last season.
Andrew Luck’s absence from the video until his cameo at the tail end is also quite a head-scratcher from a promotional standpoint, but smart money says he was in class during the day and caught up with the camera crew in time for a brief appearance.
