Saturday was the PAC-10’s most important week thus far. The conference heavyweights (Stanford, Oregon, and Arizona) all won, though Arizona needed a late-game comeback to barely edge fledgling Cal. Sure, Oregon State lost a marquee matchup to Boise State, but most observers–us included–expected the Beavers to lose in Idaho, and that loss was more than made up for by the huge upset UCLA pulled off over Texas in the Longhorns’ building. Remember that Stanford beat UCLA 35-0 just two weeks ago, so the UCLA win gives the Cardinal a nice boost in the polls this week. The PAC-10 now has 4 AP poll top-25 teams (#5 Oregon, #9 Stanford, #14 Arizona, # 18 USC) and two teams in the top 10 (Oregon and Stanford).
|Winner||Loser||What We Predicted|
|Stanford||37||Notre Dame||14||Stanford, 42-27|
|Boise State||37||Oregon State||24||Boise State|
