We have certainly mentioned before how much we like the New York Times. We’d like to point out just one more reason why the NYT is such a fine publication. In an article published online today–which represents impeccable proximity to the announcement of the bogus Capital One Cup–the paper dubbed the Directors Cup, “The Stanford Award,” and the journalists praise Stanford for the university’s commitment to non-profitable sports programs despite the economic downturn. We discussed our feelings on the Capital One Cup in a post from yesterday. Our key (and favorite) line from today’s Times article: [Stanford athletic director Bob Bowlsby said,] “‘I think [the commitment to a superior athletic department across gender and sports lines] is just one other way where Stanford strives to be world-class at what it does.’”
Rock on, Bob and the gray lady.
