Daily Axe’s New Digs

Over the last 24 hours, The Daily Axe has undergone a number of big changes. For a brief period this afternoon, the site went down. After it restored, there were a number of glitches and missing components of the site. Most importantly, there was no sports news published on The Daily Axe today. All of this occurred because we are principally concerned with creating the best possible website for Stanford sports news, analysis, and opinions, and that meant making a significant change in the technological infrastructure of the site. Right now, we have a new host, a new software suite, and a structure infinitely more powerful than that which powered the site as recently as this morning.

Even more excitingly, we would like to announce that The Daily Axe is officially an affiliate of Yardbarker, a national¬†sports network that works with and MSN to promote excellent sports sites from around the country. Today, Yardbarker earned a spot on Time Magazine’s Top 50 websites of 2010, and we could not be more proud of our new partner. As the newest member of Yardbarker, The Daily Axe will feature integration with the entire Yardbarker network, and we will have greater resources and a bigger audience than ever before. You may already have noticed the first signs of our partnership with Yardbarker: their logo beneath our own logo and the Stanford Cardinal News widget on the left sidebar. Even more exciting integration is yet to come.

We appreciate your ongoing readership, and more improvements are on the way. Keep an eye out for more innovation on The Daily Axe, and keep bleeding cardinal.
